All the servers we use are hosted by professional datacentres, and managed 24x7 by their professional technicians and server administrators. In the event of a web hosting problem with one of the servers or server networks, it may not immediately appear on this page, however the datacentre technicians will usually have already identified the issue, and will be working on resolving it as soon as they can. Please don't be alarmed if there currently appears to be an issue with a server, but it doesn't yet appear on this page, as we operate this page independently from the datacentres. This page will also normally only be updated during normal New Zealand business hours.

If you are experiencing an issue with your Website Hosting or Email, please also check our Troubleshooting Your Website FAQs or our Troubleshooting Your Email FAQs, to make sure that the problem isn't at your end or with your ISP, home/office network, or your computer..

RSS Subscribe The free Shared Secure Certificate on CPanel servers has been phased out.
Posted on 06/03/14 01:16PM

This was discussed in an announcement earlier in the week, but may have been overlooked by some users. Due to some security updates on the CPanel servers we will need to cease providing  access to the free shared secure certificate, on all shared CPanel hosting servers, effective immediately.

This is due to the way shared secure certificates run on CPanel servers. Unfortunately using a shared secure certificate is now deemed to be too much a of a security problem, and it conflicts with other security protocols which have been introduced with urgency on the servers. This is being done for the security of all users of the shared CPanel servers.
Although we don't know how many people make use of the free shared secure certificate, we don't believe there are very many. If clients do need a secure certificate, we do still allow dedicated certificates to be installed on our CPanel hosting plans. A dedicated secure certificate also offers a far more professional look for secure pages, as the certificate is in your companies own name. Clients who need a secure certificate for their website will need to buy one, and their own dedicated IP. Please contact us to arrange this. We do however still offer a shared secure certificate on our non CPanel unmetered web hosting plans, however it may also be removed at a later date, if it is deemed to be a security issue.

RSS Subscribe Urgent Security Updates to be applied to CPanel servers - Important Changes
Posted on 04/03/14 06:30PM

All CPanel servers will have security updates applied in the coming days. The server technicians will be enabling the Symlink Patch on the servers as security measure. This patch will ensure that no user can create a link in their account to files under another user, or server configuration files, and thus accessing information from it.

This update will require apache to be recompiled on the server, and means php 5.3 will be enabled by default on the server. If your website is running  very old software that doesn't run under php5.3, we should be able to switch back individual websites back to to PHP 5.2 upon request. Please note that PHP 5.2 is now end of life, and has been replaced by PHP 5.3, so we would recommend updating your website to run under PHP 5.3.

The other thing about this update, is that it will mean that we will need to cease providing  shared secure certificate access on all shared CPanel hosting servers, effective immediately. This is due to the way shared secure certificates run on CPanel servers. Unfortunately using a shared secure certificate is now deemed to be too much a of a security problem. This is being done for the security of all users of the shared CPanel servers.
If clients need a secure certificate, we do still allow dedicated certificates to be installed. Clients who need a secure certificate for their website will need to buy one, and their own dedicated IP. Please contact us to arrange this. We do how still offer a shared secure certificate on our non CPanel unmetered web hosting plans, however it may also be removed if it is deemed to be a security issue.

This update will also cause downtime of around an hour. The technicians will be working their way through the servers, so the update maybe done at anytime. As it is an urgent update, we can't delay this update. We apologise for any inconvenience.

RSS Subscribe Lounge Network Infrastructure Upgrade
Posted on 10/02/14 03:00PM

During this week and next we will be completing our migration of the system back-end database system to MariaDB. This refers to the infrastructure that runs the controlpanel and hosting systems, and does not affect customer’s hosted databases. MariaDB offers better real-time support and security, and importantly flexibility and a future focus for next generation services.

No impact is expected as we have been running MariaDB in parallel for some time in order to check data integrity. However we want to inform our customers of the changeover dates and times which are as follows:

Tuesday 11th Feb, 6AM:
All DNS and redirects changed so that they read from the new cluster.

Tuesday 18th Feb, 6AM:
Control Panel changed so that it reads from the new cluster.

RSS Subscribe Wellington Earthquakes and Office disruptions
Posted on 14/11/16 01:36PM

As you may already know Wellington and upper parts of the South Island were rocked by a severe earthquake this morning, causing quite a bit of damage. The regions continues to be rocked by severe aftershocks. We hope everyone is safe and ok across NZ.

Our main office has been disrupted by the Wellington earthquakes. As a result of the quakes, we have had periods of no power or internet  access. So this may affect our ability to respond to enquiries during this time. We may have more power outages as aftershocks continue to strike our offices.

Our web hosting services however are not affected in anyway. The servers are housed in professional datacentres in Auckland, Wellington and overseas, and are designed to withstand these types of earthquakes. So please bear with us during this time.

RSS Subscribe Auckland Wide Intermittent Network Issue - Resolved
Posted on 05/08/16 01:41PM

We are aware that there are currently intermittent network issues in the Auckland region affecting all providers. This is affecting some customers from accessing systems on the Lounge Networks, and the wider internet. Our network engineers are monitoring this issue and working with upstream providers where appropriate to minimise the impact on our customers.

Update: Our upstream has confirmed that this issue is now resolved.

RSS Subscribe Auckland Network Outage 22/07 - Incident Report
Posted on 22/07/16 10:17AM

There was a brief outage of approximately 45 minute at the Auckland Datacentre this morning. As it was a fault with the datacentre and our Upstream providers network, it was a fault that affected many other providers. This outage only affected clients on this network, and none of our Cpanel based customers.

At 9:05am, our upstream providers automated alerting system notified of an issue with their core network and their engineers began investigating.

A switch in the datacentres network was identified as causing a routing issue across the platform; once identified, the switch was removed and the availability of the network was restored.

All services were restored and systems back online by 9.50am. These types of issues are rare, but can happen with our upstream providers network if there is a hardware failure with a key piece of the network.

Thank you for your patience, we apologize for the inconvenience caused.
