All the servers we use are hosted by professional datacentres, and managed 24x7 by their professional technicians and server administrators. In the event of a web hosting problem with one of the servers or server networks, it may not immediately appear on this page, however the datacentre technicians will usually have already identified the issue, and will be working on resolving it as soon as they can. Please don't be alarmed if there currently appears to be an issue with a server, but it doesn't yet appear on this page, as we operate this page independently from the datacentres. This page will also normally only be updated during normal New Zealand business hours.

If you are experiencing an issue with your Website Hosting or Email, please also check our Troubleshooting Your Website FAQs or our Troubleshooting Your Email FAQs, to make sure that the problem isn't at your end or with your ISP, home/office network, or your computer..

RSS Subscribe Emergency Maintenance at 5.30pm today: Shared Mail Platform at Auckland Datacentre
Posted on 25/06/13 04:55PM

UPDATE - 25/06/2013 18:28 NZST (6:30PM)

Maintenance has now been completed. All shared mail services are functioning as expected.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while this work was undertaken and apologizes for any inconvenience caused.

-----

This message only applies to clients on our Premium unmetered hosting plans.

A critical issue with the Auckland based shared mail platform has been identified. In order to correct this and ensure the consistency of customer data, emergency maintenance will be undertaken by our upstream providers from 17:30 NZST today (5:30PM Tuesday 25th June 2013)

At this time, an estimated duration for this work is not available.

This maintenance window will be used to migrate customers to a standby replica system. It is important to note that no customer data will be lost as a result of this maintenance work. This work will affect approximately 50% of Shared Mail accounts only.

Access to customer mailboxes via POP3, IMAP and Webmail will be unavailable during this period. Users may be prompted for a Username and/or Password (depending on the email client software in use) when attempting to access their mailbox. Please do not change any of your settings as they will work as before as soon as the maintenance is completed.

No incoming mail messages will be lost. All incoming mail will be queued for delivery upon completion of the maintenance window. Outbound mail and Authenticated SMTP services will continue to function as normal, however, saving a message to the Sent Folder via IMAP may fail.

We thank you for your patience and understanding while this work is completed and apologizes for any inconvenience caused.

We thank you for your understanding while this work is completed, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

RSS Subscribe Problem with Vodafone / ihugs Email servers
Posted on 10/06/13 10:17AM

We have had a few clients contact us in the last few days about problems receiving emails that have been sent from Vodafones / ihugs mail servers. The person sending them the emails instead received a email bounceback to say that their email had been rejected as junkmail, because it had been listed on several realtime blacklists (RBLs). These clients have also contacted Vodafone, but vodafone staff denied the problem was with them. We can assure clients that the problem is definitely with Vodafone, as they are responsible for keeping their IPs clean and getting any RBL blacklistings removed when they do occur.

We have also contacted Vodafone management ourselves, and they have told us that they are aware of the problem, and they have reassured us that they are working on getting it resolved with the relevant blacklists. Only Vodafone are able to fix this problem. If you have any concerns, please contact Vodafone directly, and ask for your email or call to be escalated if the frontline helpdesk person isn't knowledgable on the issue. Also if you don't get any satisfaction, please email us with the email contact and name of the person you are dealing with, and we can contact them directly on your behalf.

Please note that this is not a problem in anyway with our email services. The people sending from the vodafone mailservers will also be having problems sending to most other email providers too, as most top providers like us use  comprehensive antispam systems, to block reported spammers, thus cutting down the spam that our clients receive. If the sender of a Vodafone account doesn't get a bounceback, they will likely find that the email would have likely gone straight into the receivers junkmail folder instead, due to the blacklists Vodafones IP has been listed on.

In the meantime we would suggest Vodafone users send email using another email provider, until vodafone have fixed it.
In general , due to the very high number of users that use ISP email services, we don't recommend using ISP email services, especially for business use where email reliability is more critical. We instead recommend using quality email providers like us, for hosting all POP, IMAP and SMTP services associated with your email accounts.

RSS Subscribe Urgent SAN storage Maintenance is being carried tonight 23/05/2013
Posted on 23/05/13 01:11PM

Urgent maintenance is being carried out on the SAN while the datacentre techs upgrade the firmware between 00:00 and 06:00 (6am) on 24/05/2013.

Impact:

Due to the redundant nature of the SAN they do not expect any service unavailability during this time, however there may be a brief period of up to 5 minutes where our services are unavailable. As a precaution wthe datacentre have scheduled it for the early hours of the morning and will have multiple engineers on standby in case of any unforeseen issues.

RSS Subscribe Spamcop spam scanning service failure affecting some email accounts
Posted on 01/02/21 11:00AM

Dear Customers,

Please note that due to a Spamcop spam scanning service failure, our upstream providers are experiencing an email sending outage on some of the email accounts. This is a Global issue affecting email providers all over the world that use Spam Cop. It is affecting the New Zealand based hosting network, and as Spamcop is a third party service, it is outside of our upstream providers control. Our upstream providers technical team are monitoring the situation closely and have been assured by their third party provider that it should be corrected soon however there is no ETA on this. This page will be updated.

--UPDATE--

This appears to have now been resolved. Apparently the cause was Cisco / Spamcops domain expiring, and a delay by Cisco in renewing it. Due to this, it resulted in propagation delays across the internet and during this time some emails were bouncing any others weren't . It is still possible that some emails from some email providers may still bounce depending on when they last flushed their DNS cache. This should correct itself over the next few days as DNS caches update themselves across all providers around the world. Cisco and Spamcop are a third party spam filtering service that email providers all over the world use to reduce the amount of spam that email servers get, so this has affected email users and providers all over the world.

--UPDATE--

Please note that this email outage issue is now resolved. Cisco, the upstream provider with the SpamCop email solution acknowledged fault due to a domain expiry. Read more at https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/spamcop-anti-spam-service-suffers-an-outage-after-its-domain-expired/

Thank you.

RSS Subscribe Wellington Earthquakes and Office disruptions
Posted on 14/11/16 01:36PM

As you may already know Wellington and upper parts of the South Island were rocked by a severe earthquake this morning, causing quite a bit of damage. The regions continues to be rocked by severe aftershocks. We hope everyone is safe and ok across NZ.

Our main office has been disrupted by the Wellington earthquakes. As a result of the quakes, we have had periods of no power or internet  access. So this may affect our ability to respond to enquiries during this time. We may have more power outages as aftershocks continue to strike our offices.

Our web hosting services however are not affected in anyway. The servers are housed in professional datacentres in Auckland, Wellington and overseas, and are designed to withstand these types of earthquakes. So please bear with us during this time.
