All the servers we use are hosted by professional datacentres, and managed 24x7 by their professional technicians and server administrators. In the event of a web hosting problem with one of the servers or server networks, it may not immediately appear on this page, however the datacentre technicians will usually have already identified the issue, and will be working on resolving it as soon as they can. Please don't be alarmed if there currently appears to be an issue with a server, but it doesn't yet appear on this page, as we operate this page independently from the datacentres. This page will also normally only be updated during normal New Zealand business hours.

If you are experiencing an issue with your Website Hosting or Email, please also check our Troubleshooting Your Website FAQs or our Troubleshooting Your Email FAQs, to make sure that the problem isn't at your end or with your ISP, home/office network, or your computer..

RSS Subscribe Global WordPress Brute Force Attack
Posted on 15/04/13 02:12PM

There is currently an on-going and highly-distributed global attack on WordPress installations across virtually every web hosting provider in the world. This has been going on for several days. Symptoms of the problem include slow website loading, or failing to load altogether, as the attack causes very high server loads.

We recommend that all clients WordPress installation, that you change the password to something that meets the security requirements specified on the WordPress website.  These requirements are fairly typical of a secure password: upper and lowercase letters, at least eight characters long, and including “special” characters (^%$#&@*).

Also we suggest that if your login username is 'admin' that you change it to something else. Also please be sure that ALL your plugins are up to date, and you are running the latest version of Wordpress, which is currently 3.5.1

Please note that this is a global issue affecting all web hosting providers hosting wordpress installations.  It is also a good reminder that we must all take account security very seriously, and keep our websites up to date with the latest software updates.

Our providers will change the PHP 5.3 cluster's session handler to the default tomorrow morning.  This is being put through with urgency as there have been intermittent issues with the current setup.

Start Time: 10/04/2013 - 6:00AM
End Time: 10/04/2013 - 6:01AM

We thank you for your understanding while this work is completed, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

RSS Subscribe Scheduled Maintenance: Shared Mail Platform
Posted on 09/04/13 04:28PM

Our providers are carrying out maintenance on the Premium Unmetered Shared Mail platform on 11/04/2013 between the hours of 10:00pm and 11:00pm.

Start Time: 11/04/2013 - 10:00pm
End Time: 11/04/2013 - 11:00pm

Impact: Access to mailboxes via POP, IMAP and Webmail will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes whilst this work is completed. Work will be carried out in two blocks with each affecting approximately 50% of shared mail users at a time.

Users will be prompted for a username and/or password (depending on the email client software used) when attempting to access their mailbox. No incoming mail messages will be lost; all incoming mail will be queued on our mail exchangers and delivered at the completion of the maintenance period. Outgoing mail and authenticated SMTP services will continue to function as normal, but saving a sent message to the Sent folder via IMAP will fail.

We thank you for your understanding while this work is completed, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

RSS Subscribe Spamcop spam scanning service failure affecting some email accounts
Posted on 01/02/21 11:00AM

Dear Customers,

Please note that due to a Spamcop spam scanning service failure, our upstream providers are experiencing an email sending outage on some of the email accounts. This is a Global issue affecting email providers all over the world that use Spam Cop. It is affecting the New Zealand based hosting network, and as Spamcop is a third party service, it is outside of our upstream providers control. Our upstream providers technical team are monitoring the situation closely and have been assured by their third party provider that it should be corrected soon however there is no ETA on this. This page will be updated.

--UPDATE--

This appears to have now been resolved. Apparently the cause was Cisco / Spamcops domain expiring, and a delay by Cisco in renewing it. Due to this, it resulted in propagation delays across the internet and during this time some emails were bouncing any others weren't . It is still possible that some emails from some email providers may still bounce depending on when they last flushed their DNS cache. This should correct itself over the next few days as DNS caches update themselves across all providers around the world. Cisco and Spamcop are a third party spam filtering service that email providers all over the world use to reduce the amount of spam that email servers get, so this has affected email users and providers all over the world.

--UPDATE--

Please note that this email outage issue is now resolved. Cisco, the upstream provider with the SpamCop email solution acknowledged fault due to a domain expiry. Read more at https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/spamcop-anti-spam-service-suffers-an-outage-after-its-domain-expired/

Thank you.

RSS Subscribe Wellington Earthquakes and Office disruptions
Posted on 14/11/16 01:36PM

As you may already know Wellington and upper parts of the South Island were rocked by a severe earthquake this morning, causing quite a bit of damage. The regions continues to be rocked by severe aftershocks. We hope everyone is safe and ok across NZ.

Our main office has been disrupted by the Wellington earthquakes. As a result of the quakes, we have had periods of no power or internet  access. So this may affect our ability to respond to enquiries during this time. We may have more power outages as aftershocks continue to strike our offices.

Our web hosting services however are not affected in anyway. The servers are housed in professional datacentres in Auckland, Wellington and overseas, and are designed to withstand these types of earthquakes. So please bear with us during this time.
