All the servers we use are hosted by professional datacentres, and managed 24x7 by their professional technicians and server administrators. In the event of a web hosting problem with one of the servers or server networks, it may not immediately appear on this page, however the datacentre technicians will usually have already identified the issue, and will be working on resolving it as soon as they can. Please don't be alarmed if there currently appears to be an issue with a server, but it doesn't yet appear on this page, as we operate this page independently from the datacentres. This page will also normally only be updated during normal New Zealand business hours.

If you are experiencing an issue with your Website Hosting or Email, please also check our Troubleshooting Your Website FAQs or our Troubleshooting Your Email FAQs, to make sure that the problem isn't at your end or with your ISP, home/office network, or your computer..

RSS Subscribe Warning for .NZ New Zealand Domain Name Registrants
Posted on 26/08/11 11:37PM

In recent months we have become aware that a small number of our domain names clients have been contacted and supplied with incorrect information by other companies in the web development and hosting field. This incorrect information relates to where the domain name is registered, and that the domain name needs to be transferred to the web developers own management in order to work with their new website. This information is NOT correct. If your domain name is registered through us, it will work with ALL hosting servers/websites/email configurations, no matter what they are. All you or your developer needs to do is change the DNS settings or point the domain records to their servers, which can be done very simply inside your Domain Manager account at www.domains.loungenetwork.co.nz . You DO NOT need to transfer your domain to your website developer, in order for it to work with your website/email.

Through our Domain Manger system, we provide two comprehensive control panels, that both allow the domain registrant to fully manage all aspects of their domain name, that they have registered through us.

Our Domain Manager Control Panel gives all of our domain clients:

- The ability to manage the contact details associated with that domain, and update them in realtime.
- FREE Email URL Forwarding
- FULL DNS Control
- Ability to setup domain templates where you can setup MX, CNAME and A Records for your domain.
- FREE Complimentary automated domain renewal reminders via email prior to the domains expiry date.
- Instant domain renewal and registration via Credit Card in real-time. This is perfect if your domain name expires or you need to register a new one outside business hours or in the weekend.
-Access to our Expired Domain Auction system, where you can bid for the opportunity to register recently expired domain names.
- 100% NZ based support and 100% NZ owned company. We have also been providing .NZ domain registration/renewal services for over 10 years, making us one of NZs longest established providers. This means we have a vast amount of knowledge of domain names.

All this is provided at no additional fee

The main benefit of using our Domain services is that at all times, .NZ Domain Registrants will have FULL CONTROL over their domain name and services, which clients may not get if the domain gets transferred to their website developers own control.

The potential dangers of moving your domain name to your web designer/developers, or to another hosting provider may potentially include:

- You may lose direct control of the domain, and they may not provide you with a control panel where you can manage the domain name. Many developers will only have a single control panel that they manage all their clients domains through. Therefore they aren’t able to provide you with your own separate control panel.
- They may modify the domains administrative and registrants email address to their own email address. This means that you would neither receive automated domain renewal reminders, nor be able to automatically generate a UDAI code when you need it through the control panel. You would instead be reply on your developer to contact you to remind you to renew your domain name. This could become a major problem if your web designer/developer/host ever disappears or ceases trading, and you are no longer able to contact them.
- They may register your domain under their own name, meaning that on paper they are the legally registrant of your domain, not you.
- They may charge you more for your domain renewal/registration, and they may have other management/service fees for services that we already provide for free.
- You may not be able to renew an expired domain if they are closed, if they don't provide real-time domain renewals. This could lead to substantial website/email downtime, especially if it expires during a holiday.

We have seen all these problems occur in the past, over the last 10 years, and getting a domain name back under the proper domain registrants control can be difficult in some of these cases.

Transferring your domain to another party could mean that you could potentially lose direct control of you domain. Your web developer should never request your UDAI code without telling you why. If they do, you need to ask them why and whether you will still have a control panel for it's management, and that they won't change any of the contact details and email addresses associated with that domain to their own.

We recommend that if you are looking at moving your domain away from our system, that you chose a domain provider that provides a full comprehensive domain name control panel where you still have full control over your domain name at all times. In general we recommend you don't give your UDAI to anyone unless you know exactly what they are going to do with your domain, and that you will continue to be in full control of it. After your domain is transferred away from our management, and you have a problem after this has been done, we will be unable to help you.

We also regularly get contacted by people who are trying to transfer their domain to us, but have been unable to, due to the website developer registering the domain under their own name instead of the correct company. As has been highlighted in the media recently, it is very important that all domain registrants make sure that the domain is registered under their own name and they have full control panel access to that domain to manage it at all times.

RSS Subscribe Emails to Telecom/Xtra email addresses are getting delayed
Posted on 22/08/11 06:00PM

Updated 25-8-2011 - This should now be resolved.

This announcement only applies to our NZ based hosting servers in the Auckland datacentre.

We are aware that Telecom / Xtra / Yahoo are delaying emails which are forwarded or sent directly to @Xtra email addresses, from our providers SMTP servers. This problem is affecting many New Zealand hosting providers, not just us, and is solely an issue at Telecom / Xtra / Yahoo's end, with them blocking legitimate email.

Our providers have spoken to Telecom/Xtra's Complex Internet team and asked if they could make the unblock a priority as there are literally thousands of messages queued, awaiting delivery to Xtra email addresses. They said they would do their best, but they were reliant on an Australian Yahoo team and that we should expect at least 24 hours for the servers to be unblocked. This is obviously far too long a time-frame, but there is nothing further we can do to encourage them to accept mail from our upstream providers.

If you have been adversely affected by this or have any questions, we would suggest contacting Telecom/Xtra directly. We have also had this type of problem in the past, and it is an ongoing problem with Xtras/Yahoos spam protection systems, which affects most NZ hosting providers from time to time. As Telecom/Xtra/ Yahoos mail servers are run and managed offshore, not in New Zealand. We therefore don't have direct contact with them, so all we can do is wait for Telecom New Zealand to communicate the problem to their offshore Yahoo email team.

We recommend that in the meantime, you use your ISPs outgoing (SMTP) server instead of ours while the block is in-place. If possible, we recommend converting Xtra email forwards to mailboxes on our servers. That way you can bypass Yahoos services altogether.

RSS Subscribe Network Outage at Auckland Peering Exchange (APE)
Posted on 28/07/11 05:29PM

This announcement only applies to clients on our Corporate and Business class hosting plans.

At 11:20AM our providers started experiencing packet loss across the edge of our network causing connectivity issues.

Upon further inspection, it was determined that the outage was linked to a network failure at Citylink (who operate the Auckland Peering Exchange) – the issue was was causing connections at the peering exchange to reset continuously. This affected multiple ISPs including our own providers.

A manual failover was then initiated, but due to the nature of the issue, connectivity was still impacted for some clients as their ISP’s networks converged (updated routes). The effects of the issue lasted for approximately 20 minutes.

The problems persisted for longer than they normally would do due to the nature of the failure. As Citylink was intermittently available it meant they were not bypassed completely, and it took manual intervention to recover. This sort of thing can happen for time-to-time, but thankfully it is rare.

RSS Subscribe .NZ domain Management Control Panels - We provide clients with Full Control
Posted on 21/07/11 06:47PM

As you may have seen in the media recently, there have been issues encountered by some .NZ domain registrants in New Zealand who use different domain registrars.
They claim they have not had direct management control allowing them to manage their domain names though a domain control panel via their domain provider.

We would just like to reassure and confirm to all our clients, that we provide ALL of our own domain name clients with FULL CONTROL over their domain names, though our New Zealand developed Domain Manager system at www.domains.loungenetwork.co.nz .

Through our Domain Manager, all our clients have full control to manage their domain names contact details, alter DNS settings, instantly generate UDAI codes, as well as renew and register domains in real-time. This does cost us more to provide to our clients, but we believe in giving our clients full control over these things, so they can make changes anytime.

If you are not currently our client, but are interested in switching your domain name to our Domain Manager system, so you have also got full control over your domain, you can transfer it for free by setting up a free domain manager account at www.domains.loungenetwork.co.nz . Alternatively you can contact us to transfer it for you. All we need is your .NZ domains UDAI code.

RSS Subscribe Network issue at CPanel hosting datacentre.
Posted on 04/08/17 10:55AM

One of the Datacentres ISPs had a router go down at approximately 10:38am, which meant traffic was automatically rerouted, but caused very high traffic loads. When they notice this issue, they shut them down and it took 180 seconds for routes to re-converge to our other carriers, and it should have been fully resolved by 10:42am. This resulted in less than 5 minutes of network downtime, before it was fully resolved. We apologise for any inconvenience

RSS Subscribe Wellington Earthquakes and Office disruptions
Posted on 14/11/16 01:36PM

As you may already know Wellington and upper parts of the South Island were rocked by a severe earthquake this morning, causing quite a bit of damage. The regions continues to be rocked by severe aftershocks. We hope everyone is safe and ok across NZ.

Our main office has been disrupted by the Wellington earthquakes. As a result of the quakes, we have had periods of no power or internet  access. So this may affect our ability to respond to enquiries during this time. We may have more power outages as aftershocks continue to strike our offices.

Our web hosting services however are not affected in anyway. The servers are housed in professional datacentres in Auckland, Wellington and overseas, and are designed to withstand these types of earthquakes. So please bear with us during this time.

RSS Subscribe Auckland Wide Intermittent Network Issue - Resolved
Posted on 05/08/16 01:41PM

We are aware that there are currently intermittent network issues in the Auckland region affecting all providers. This is affecting some customers from accessing systems on the Lounge Networks, and the wider internet. Our network engineers are monitoring this issue and working with upstream providers where appropriate to minimise the impact on our customers.

Update: Our upstream has confirmed that this issue is now resolved.
